September to Remember: 30 Days

I took some time out and only indulged in IMs and phone calls where necessary. What I am so proud of is the fact that I read six whole books — Everyday Is For The Thief by Teju Cole, Dear Ijeawele by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Freshwater by Akwaeke Emezi, One Minute Manager by Ken Blanchard & Spencer Johnson, If Beale Street Could Talk by James Baldwin and Second Class Citizen by Buchi Emecheta.

You know that thing you’d like to do more of but you keep procrastinating and struggling with? Well, I have a pool of interests and I’m willing to try as many things as possible with time.

What else did I do with the time apart?

I picked two friends every weekend to spend time with — as opposed to sleeping, texting, watching romcoms, and staying on the phone. Being out of touch is at an all time high so I explored sitting with my friends and doing stuff they liked to do, hear them speak about their interests (there’s this glee that rubs off on you when someone speaks passionately about their stuff), hear them speak about their love life or lack of it — but generally, crack jokes and have a good time.

What I particularly loved was asking them to play me songs they’ve enjoyed in recent times and now I’ve landed a playlist. There’s mostly love in sharing so here goes “Sounds from Temi’s side” — AppleMusic and Spotify.

Well then, how do you feel now?

I weigh 62kg so I’m not sure I can say I feel lighter but you get the drill. To be fair, my ultimate goal remains to live thoroughly and I’ll do my best to pursue that.

Not me asking and answering these questions like I’m in some feature interview, but I guess my bio being “journaling and sailing” gives me rights to do as I please so there you go shorty!
